The SSRC-Mellon Mays Graduate Initiatives Program strives to transform the academy through excellence.  This carefully planned sequence of activities is designed to fulfill specific needs arising at distinct points on the path to the completion of the doctorate and in the early postdoctoral years.  The Graduate Student Summer Conference, the Program Seminars and the PhD Retreat offer fellows tools for professional success that will remain with them throughout their careers as both scholars and teachers.
